Capital Campaign

Dallas Pratt Centennial Campaign

The American Museum in Britain embarked on a capital campaign in 2005 to expand and improve the facilities for the museum’s visitors.  One of the first projects of the Dallas Pratt Centennial Campaign was the complete restoration of the basement, which included the installation of a lift and a newly designed exhibition funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

In 2009 we opened our new and improved café. The Orangery tearoom has been extended and fitted with a new servery counter.  We are continually working to update and improve the services we offer, and the extended Orangery will provide a much improved, spacious, and modern dining facility.

The most important project in the museum’s future is without doubt the development of The Centre for American Culture Studies.  The Coach House and the Old Stables (currently the Folk Art Gallery) will be restored and modified for lectures, workshops and interpretive programs about America.  This project also offers us the opportunity to retrofit two historic buildings and create fantastic new learning spaces for all our public to enjoy.
