Education Programmes
£3 per student, chaperones free (minimum £30 per group) – 60 students maximum.
Programmes are available from 13 March – 31
October.
Programmes include three 45-minute sessions.
Although most of the programmes have direct links to
certain Key Stage areas of study, all the programmes
can be adjusted to suit other age groups.
Native Americans – As Varied as the Land
Understand the diversity of American Indians by
examining the art, tools, and clothing that have
shaped their culture. This is a unique opportunity to
understand the people that lie beyond the Hollywood
stereotypes.

England and the Colonisation of America
What was life like for those early colonists in the
New World? Explore the lives, tools, and trade going
back and forth between England and America as these
explorers and settlers began to shape a new nation.

Textile Traditions
Using the museum’s famous textile collection,
students learn how quilts, samplers and rugs served
to reflect the social, cultural, and artistic
aspirations of Americans – from east coast to
the western frontier.

The American West
Delving into the history of the exploration and
expansion into the American West, students will begin
to discern the fact from the fiction. From Lewis and
Clark’s Voyage of Discovery to the days of the
cowboys, find out how the West was really won.
