museum. This large format book showcases fifty-five
star quilts from the museum’s acclaimed
collection.
Each entry features photographs of the full quilt, as
well as detail shots of interesting design details
(such as signatures, quilting designs and backing
fabrics). The accompanying text describes how each
quilt was made (including measurements of border,
blocks etc.) as well as putting the design in its
historical context. Quilts featured include pieces
sewn by slaved seamstresses, a Baltimore Album quilt
over ten feet square and boldly patterned Hawaiian
and Amish examples.
This stunning publication is a celebration of a
world-renowned collection and will be a much-admired
