Clare Teal Weekend - New Orleans - Ragtime, Jazz and Blues

New Orleans - Ragtime, Jazz and Blues

3 July | 7.30 – 10.00pm (Gates at 6:30pm)

As part of our year-long America 250 programme, marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, join us at our opening night with a celebration of 'The Crescent City’ New Orleans, the birthplace of Jazz.

From South Rampart Street to Storyville via Basin Street and the Tango Belt. Soak up the infectious sounds and rhythms of Ragtime, Jazz and Blues, created in the musical genre melting pot by the giants such as Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver, Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet.

Clare Teal is joined by internationally acclaimed jazz clarinettist Adrian Cox, one of the leading exponents of the New Orleans clarinet who has a huge knowledge of the music and players of the era. His unrivalled feel and virtuosity for the music he plays has led to concerts with the biggest names in Jazz including Wynton Marsalis.

“Exhilarating and always exciting, Adrian lights up any audience with his infectious brand of hot jazz – energetic, engaging and great fun”  Clare Teal

The performance will take place on the terrace lawn, don’t forget to bring a chair or a blanket to sit on, there are a limited amount of terrace seating tickets too. A bar and BBQ will be available so you can have supper and a truly relaxing evening in the stunning setting overlooking Limpley Stoke Valley.
