Halloween Automaton Workshop
24 October | 10.30–12.30pm
What will you set in motion this Halloween? Join Bath’s Love Makers Café to make a moving automaton of your own. Take inspiration from the bat-like creation pictured here, or dream up a curious character of your own.
Using wood, card, paper and wire, you’ll discover how simple mechanisms can create surprising, almost magical movement. Experiment, play with your design and take home a handmade creation. No experience is needed, and all materials are provided.
If this workshop sparks your interest in moving machines, our Circus of Curiosities exhibition is full of automata to explore. The exhibition is not included in the workshop ticket; you can upgrade to a full site ticket at the Ticket Office on the day.

Things you need to know
The event starts at 10.30am and is due to end by 12.30pm.
The workshop takes place in the Maple Room, please check in at the Ticket Office when you arrive.
Places are limited to 12 people and must be booked in advance.
All workshop materials are provided.
Your ticket includes admission to the Gardens and Deli. You’re welcome to explore the gardens during your visit.
To visit the Manor House and Circus of Curiosities exhibition, you’ll need to pay an additional cost, ask at the Ticket Office about upgrading on the day.
We are pleased to offer free parking. If the main car park is full, please follow our signs to the additional parking, just a short distance up Claverton Hill from the main car park.
Please be aware that we are unable to provide a refund unless the event is cancelled.
