Spring Talk – While I Yet Live film screening and Director Q&A

Spring Talk – While I Yet Live film screening and Director Q&A

15 May | 11.30am

Join acclaimed filmmaker, Maris Curran to hear about her experiences creating the short film ‘While I Yet Live’ which forms part of our current exhibition Kith & Kin. Following a screening of the film, Maris will hold a Q&A in which we hope to delve more into the making of the film, her experience of being in Gee’s Bend and her ongoing relationship with the artists.

Maris creates deeply humanistic, visually rich work that foregrounds empathy and resilience. Spanning both fiction and nonfiction, her films explore the emotional lives of complex characters that are unified by a deep attentiveness to care, grief, creative life and the ties that bind us. Her work has screened widely internationally, and she holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, participated in the Whitney ISP and is a Fulbright and recent Guggenheim Fellow.
